Numerous innovations and attractions await visitors to Paznaun in the 2024/25 winter season. From Galtür to See, both infrastructural improvements and new offers for winter sports enthusiasts and holidaymakers have been introduced. The region is also increasingly focusing on sustainable mobility and offers a varied programme of events to make your winter holiday an unforgettable experience.
Ischgl cross-country ski trail, ski area and Silvretta Therme: improvements and awards
From the winter of 2024/25, the cross-country ski trail in Ischgl will also be open after dark. The two-kilometre trail from the hamlet of Paznaun to the cross-country bridge will be floodlit until 9:30 pm and is available free of charge. It is also easily accessible on foot from the centre of Ischgl.
Ischgl remains a top destination for winter sports enthusiasts in the 2024/25 winter season. The ski resort was awarded 5 stars by Skiresort.de and was once again the test winner in the categories of snow safety, orientation and après-ski. New in 2024/25 is the renovated outdoor area of the Fimba lift with modernised access for greater convenience.
In addition, guests with a 4-day VIP ski pass in December and April benefit from a 20% discount on thermal spa, sauna and combination tickets at the Silvretta Therme. The Silvretta Therme itself remains a highlight with its talented sauna masters such as Bernie Becht, who won this year's "Aufguss Masters" of the Austrian Sauna Forum (ÖSF), continuing the success of his colleague Thor Moeller from the previous year.
Galtür: focus on climatic health resort and allergy friendliness
Galtür continues to make a name for itself as an ECARF-certified climatic health resort and offers optimal conditions for allergy sufferers in particular. The high altitude and accommodation specially designed for allergy sufferers ensure a relaxing holiday. The Silvapark Galtür ski area was once again awarded the "Extra class: World's leading ski area with up to 60 kilometres of pistes" category by Skiresort.de and is particularly attractive for families and those seeking peace and quiet. In winter, Galtür also offers 80 kilometres of trails for cross-country skiers who want to enjoy the tranquillity of nature away from the pistes.
See and Kappl: New pistes and winter hiking trails
Kappl and See offer an extended range of winter hiking trails and ski routes in winter 2024/25. In Kappl, there are two new winter hiking trails, "Müllermahdlen" and "Sesslad", which lead through impressive mountain landscapes. In the See ski area, the new "Fear of Heights 1530" piste was opened, which is the steepest descent in Paznaun with a difference in altitude of 1530 metres. There is also a new ski route, the "Ibex Route" and the new "Istalanztal" winter hiking trail. The See ski resort received an award from Skiresort.de in the category "Extra class: World's leading ski resort with up to 60 kilometres of slopes".
The Kappl ski area will close on 30 March 2025 in order to start the construction of the new Diasbahn lift. The See ski area will remain open until 21 April 2025.
Mobility: sustainable travel and local transport solutions
When it comes to mobility, Paznaun is increasingly focussing on environmentally friendly alternatives. With the "Nightjet to the snow", guests from Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, Vienna and Graz can travel in comfort by train. The package includes ski passes, seat reservations and transfers from Innsbruck to the accommodation.
Within the valley, bus route 260, which runs every half hour between Wirl and Landeck-Zams, ensures a smooth connection between the villages and the railway station. The ski buses are also still in operation and offer efficient transport during peak times.
Events: Proven highlights in winter 2024/25
Visitors can also look forward to a variety of events this winter season. The "Top of the Mountain Opening Concert" in Ischgl opens the season on 30 November 2024, followed by the traditional "Forms in White" in January. Sporting highlights include the Freeride Junior World Championships and Open Faces in Kappl in January and the Galtür Nordic Volumes cross-country skiing event at the end of March. Families can look forward to three children's concerts in Galtür during the holiday season, and at Easter the popular Watersurf Contest takes place in See to round off the season. From 6 April to 4 May, it's back to spring skiing in Spring Blanc in Ischgl and Samnaun with the Top of the Mountain concerts on the Idalp and the International Spring Snow Festival on Alp Trida.
