A high-pressure system over the North Sea is shifting its center toward Central Europe, bringing calm and stable fair weather to the Alpine region through the weekend. Bright sunshine will continue under largely cloudless skies on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will be warm, typical of early summer, with the frost line at around 3,000 meters above sea level. Starting Sunday, the large-scale flow over the Alps will begin to shift toward the south. This will make the weather more changeable, but it will remain stable on Sunday and Monday due to foehn effects. There will still be plenty of sunshine. By Tuesday of next week, the atmospheric conditions will become generally more unstable, leading to a battle between southerly foehn effects and this instability for dominance in the weather pattern. Clouds, sunshine, and possible showers may then alternate at any time.
