The stages

STAGE 1: THE NATURE-LOVING WINTER HIKER

The first stage of the long-distance winter hiking trail from See to Kappl is a paradise for nature lovers. From the Medrigjochbahn valley station in See, the 15.9 kilometre-long, easy route leads via the idyllic hamlet of Oberhaus to the Kappl ski area, where cosy huts invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Almost at the finish, at the Diasbahn mountain station, you can decide whether to descend on the Snooc (sit-ski) or take the comfortable gondola back down to the valley.

Important information: A Snooc can be hired for 5 euros at the Sunny Mountain Restaurant. After use, the Snooc must be sent back up in the gondola at the Diasbahn valley station. When travelling with the gondola, the single ride ticket for Medrig/Dias must be purchased at the ticket office of the Medrigjochbahn valley station in See.

STAGE 2: PANORAMIC TOUR THROUGH ISCHGL

The second stage of 18.8 kilometres starts at the valley station of the Diasbahn cable car and leads through picturesque Kappl. The trail winds past alpacas and traditional wooden barns to the Nederle district of Kappl. The stage continues with a bus ride from the "Kappl Nederle" bus stop to "Ischgl Ebene". From there, the winter hiking trail continues to the Silvretta Therme Ischgl and via the hamlet of Paznaun to Brandli in Mathon. Shortly afterwards, the fascinating Silvretta Wildlife Park is located on the opposite side of the road, offering insights into the local wildlife. The route continues to the forest chapel and to Tschafein in Galtür. From there, the trail leads to Galtür Dorf, where the stage ends.

STAGE 3: BREATHTAKING MOUNTAIN SCENERY WITH LAKE VIEW

The third stage of the long-distance winter hiking trail starts in Galtür Dorf and stretches over 8.9 kilometres to Wirl. From there, the trail continues in the direction of Zeinisee and Kopsstausee. The Zeinis winter hiking trail not only impresses as one of the most beautiful in Paznaun, but also harbours fascinating stories. It marks the border between Vorarlberg and Tyrol, represents the main European watershed between the Rhine and the Danube and connects the Verwall and Silvretta mountain groups. There are several restaurants along the winter hiking trail where you can savour traditional Tyrolean delicacies. Important to note: The Alpengasthof Zeinissee is closed in winter.
