Winter weather is forecast until the weekend. The weather will be much calmer and increasingly milder next week. For now, however, we are dealing with intermittent snowfall, which may turn to rain below 1300 meters above sea level on Friday. There will also be strong westerly winds and some sunshine at times. The wind will remain strong and will veer more towards the northwest towards Saturday. This will bring very cold but also humid air masses, especially in the mountains. There may be prolonged snowfall until Saturday morning, especially in the northwestern foothills of the mountains. On Sunday itself, the weather will calm down. The clouds will break up and the sun will increasingly come out. However, it will remain wintry cold. Monday will start off dry, but extensive cloud fields from a warm front will already be moving in. This front will cross us by Tuesday morning with some precipitation, with the snow line beginning to rise above 1500 meters above sea level. Subsequently, the flow over the Alps will turn to the southwest. It will become persistently foehn-like and significantly milder.
